new psp and my thoughts on gaming now.

Been fooling around with my new PSP lite. Im pretty pleased so far. Haven't had the chance to use the TV out yet since Im going to get those cables on Tuesday but everything is pretty shiny. The PSP like the DS just seems more fluid for me than the home consoles. I guess it's a lot about the time you have to spend gaming. Just this morning I put in Darkstalkers and blew through the arcade mode in twenty minutes. It was fun, short and I won't mind doing it again. Better than fifty odd hours blasting repetivite gangsters on a home console for sure. It seems most of my enjoyment is nostalgia driven as my list for psp games are basically all collections of eighties games and loco roco. And Im not even participating in the thriving homebrew scene for the PSP. And then on Xbox I basically just play the arcade games from my youth. Like Worms which was fine when it was on a 100 SNES and has no reason to need the power of the 400 360 Im playing it on now minus being online. Should Game companies be worried that more and more 'casual' games take up our time? You could go Nintendo's route and go mini game crazy but that might be taking it to far. I havent hit the power button on my Wii since March when I finished Super Paper Mario. That probably makes all of you scrounging to get one pretty mad. I love the Wii but refuse to play what's being released for it at the moment. With success hopefully there will still be some hardcore games coming our way. They don't have to be epic, just not made for four year olds. Don't get me wrong. There's still great original games coming out. Bioshock just last week blew me away and Im gearing up for Eternal Sonata. We just need a little more freshness. And a little less rehash. O.k. Done ranting. Anyone want to play Worms?

ughh blogging on wii

So last night I poured coffee on my keyboard and it scares me what it must be doing 2 my stomach because it killed the keyboard. thankfully the wii has the internet but typing on it is a pain.

Saturday Youtube video.

Well. Got to go back to work today. been a nice long vacation but all good things must come to an end.
If any game figure needs a movie it's these guys. enjoy.

music im blogging to.

So this great site The Hylia has all the Zelda Soundtracks available for free streaming. Nothing quite like hearing the Ganon battle and typing.

Super paper done. what now?

Just beat Super Paper Mario for the wii and it ends with a sweet if not corny way. Now the Wii will go dark until somebody releases something Im interested in playing for it. Of course Nintendo has things coming but the third party stuff is just kind of subpar so far don't you think?

Picked up The Fountain and Pan's Labrything on DVD today both of which I highly recommend.

Why i love my 360... LIVE ARCADE!

O.k. when I got my Wii I was so excited for the new way to play and Zelda was freaking fantastic. I broke down a while later and got a 360 for all the fancy graphics and larger style games. Guess what? I've only been playing the old games availble through the download service Live Arcade. And it is Awesome. Playing TMNT arcade again with four other people is great. Playing a bout of worms for world domination? Great. Playing UNO. Werid but great.
And this wenesday MS is giving us a free sidescrolling 2-d shooter Aegis Wing that up to four people can play at once. Im in love with a service and its LIve Arcade. It's sad because as much promise as the Wii's Virtual COnsole had/has the lack of online really is killing some of the multiplayer classics.

Is the Wii to become the home for light gun games?

Sega announced today that they are bringing their arcade light gun Ghost Squad game to the Wii. Makes sense. With the Wii controller all you have to do is point and shoot, much like those old arcade games. Anyone want to wager we will see a nintendo zapper before too long? I mean Duck Hunt is still one of the most requested virtual console games. House of the Dead would play better on the wii than any of it's previous home conversions. I could pony up money for some Zombie killing fun. Bring on Time Crisis, Operation Wolf and err Hogan's Alley. I'm sold.

SUPPPEEERRR PAAAPPPPER!!!

I managed to snag a copy of Super Paper Mario for the wii yesterday at a big box retailer who chose to break the street date. It's my first Wii purchase since launch and so far I'm enjoying it. The puzzles are pretty good but I wonder how long ill be interested in the the long text breaks. It does have some rpg elements which is nice and the whole ecth a sketch look is amazing. After playing Gears of War for the past couple weeks, all those bright crayola nintendo colors are a sight for my eyes.
I've decided to pass on seeing Grindhouse at the cinema. I'll rent them instead and not have to worry about drinking to much coke during the three hour marathon.
Aqua Teen is confirmed for our local small theatre on Friday. I will be there friday evening! Because, you know, Meatwad on the big screen.

cool line rider video

So we were playing around on the Wii's internet browser and I showed Jess line rider for the first time. She then found this one for me. Its pretty cool.

kid icarus comes to the vc!!!!

Today Kid Icarus comes out for the Virtual Console. for five bucks i can rebuy one of the best games from the nes era. You have to wonder if nintendo is tracking the sales of this guy because he's now in smash bros and they could be planning a very awesome remake of this wonderful game. Seriously if you have a wii, and you got five bucks. What are you waiting for? Medusa awaits.

Wii Lan Adaptor Arrives.

So I got my lan adaptor for the Wii last night, finally got my updates, (which allow sd cards to be used). The Weather channel is pretty neat, but not something i'll probably ever use. I can see how this would sell the system to someone like my dad though. I pretty much just like spinning the earth around. The internet channel is o.k. but why would I want to be on the internet without a keyboard? I probably won't download the full version when it's released later this month. The Virtual Console is where all the fun is, and I downloaded Super Mario Bros for my first game. What a classic and now stored directly on my Wii front page. I'm going to have to limit myself but so many of those TurboGraphics games are very tempting since I have never owned Hudson's 16 bit powerhouse. Bonk's headbutts are calling. Well at least now I can get excited over Virtual Console monday's.

inital holiday game impressions

we had our christmas today and i racked up on the wii games.
initial quick impressions

marvel ultimate alliance. a comic geeks dream. my team right now. capt america, moon knight, spiderman, and maybe iron man.

tony hawk downhill jam. feels rushed, tracks are pretty quick and then your done. no sense of urgency. will probably beat pretty quickly.

rayman raving rabbids. the best game for me and jess to play together. its got alot of charm, and will probably keep us sharing the controller more than anything else.

also got jess trauma center for the wii and elite beat agents for the ds.
trauma center oozes style, looks pretty good and elite beat agents looks like its going be jess's favorite in a while.

Pretty great wii-load and then theres all the other stuff we gave each other. so much fun. how will i get anything done?

mmm..

so i've been unable to get online much this week so not too much posting here. Also I've been too enthralled in Zelda Twilight Princess to really care to. Im on the final dungeon. A little over 40 hours in and it looks like i will beat the game today. A lot of other things i could still do, like the endurance dungeon and explore the world but for some reason, all i want to do is fight fight fight. It is definetly worth the price of the console by itself, but it isn't my game of the year. that honor goes to New Super Mario Brothers for the DS. it's more accesible, and just more fun.

Got the new Owen cd. some of the songs i swear i've heard before but if your a fan of any of the kinsella brothers you know your going to want this cd.

Also watched the Devil and Daniel Johnston. That's pretty crazy stuff.

Hope everyone has got there shopping done. :>

got my wii. niiiiccceee

got my wii. just set it up, made some mii's which can definetly be a neat little time waster. played wii sports and now im taking a break to register all my new goodies with nintendo. the wii is alreayd awesome and guess what? I've got a copy of twilight princess that hasn't even been in the machine yet. I'm going to start that some tonight but save the meat of it for my days off when I have time to play it. I have to wait for the wii lan adaptor so i can get online and buy me some classic nes games. pinball, and donkey kong here i come. I really really like my wii, and am glad i got up at five this morning to stand in the cold outside of target with the rest of the nuts. wiiiiiiii!!!!!!
