here comes summer!

Well it's right around the corner. Here come's the heat, the humidty and the air condition fun!
Im ready for the popcorn to start flowing this week with spiderman 3 and not let up till the fall.
Already planning some long trips(minneapolis for convergence and vacation), milwaukee and chicago, and wish we had air conditioning in the car. Might head down to Kansas City this week for Planet COmicon. Heard it's the 2nd biggest show next to Wizard World and since yet again that conflicts with a closer and arguably betterlocal event I will not be attending this year
So much fun right around the corner.

Can't Stop The Serenity Year 2

The second year of screenings of Serenity for the charity Equality Now have been announced and there's one in Des Moines! I may have to take the night off. This is pretty special. The fact that three years after the movie came out (to a small audience) it is going to fill theatres across the world in one weekend and all for charity. Man I got on the Whedon train late, but you got to admire his fans and the passion this crew had brewed. I guess you really Can't Stop The Serentiy

superfu*%&ers # 4

James Kolchaka's Super hero team for the foul mouthed and not so super continues here in all it's day glo color. The best part of the whole issue comes with the first line of profanity on the very first page. Somethings you just can't repeat, even when they've been written in what looks like a kids book. Much better than the first two issues, not quite as good as the last.

Moon Knight #9

Only picked up Moon Knight # 9 this week and new penciler MICO SUAYAN does a nice job of replacing finch although not quite as detailed in the backgrounds. Wonder what will happen in issue ten? In all realities Moon Knight and Punisher shouldn't really have a problem with each other. Will be interesting to see how Huston plays it.

It's raining geek.

It's so nice outside. I went for a really nice walk through neighborhoods I've never been in today. Came home and finally saw an episode of Torchwood. It's better than I thought it would be but I doubt we will ever get it in the states. Maybe dvd only? Saw last night's Drive on Fox's myspace page. Nathon Fillion could play Bozo the Clown and I think I would still watch.
Need to make some dinner soon, watch Shatner on Boston Legal tonight, and record an interview for the podcast.

aqua teen the movie.

is well. aqua teen. its funny and it definetly has its moments, but there are also times when you just don't feel it and wonder how anyone could get away with this stuff as even being remotely funny. But it has meatwad as much as it has master shake. Strictly only for fans of the show, but yeah worth it. I think when I buy the dvd i will watch this movie chapter by chapter. That way it will be like getting another season instead of a very long episode. B.

Message board is gone. lone live the blog!

So anyway, the message board is gone. It just seemed redundant when no one was posting and all the traffic was coming here anyway. So yeah if you really need to talk please post it in the comments here. anyone can post, you don't need to be a registered blogger user, and it doesn't need to relate to whatever thing i'm talking about at the moment( although that would be nice). Oh yeah, did I mention were working on a podcast. it's true. Who wants to guest on a show with me??

Optic Nerve returns.

Optic Nerve #11 By Adrian Tomine. Finally this issue is out and finally we can conclude this 3 parter. Tomine is once again playing the wordiness of comics around and what we get is a little piece of self loathing and a wonderfully realised story.
Always good Aplus.

Loveless # 18. More blackwater foolishness. B plus.

Fell #8 Wouldn't you know it. Optic Nerve gets overshadowed by this book. Fell is not just a great value in comics, it's also a writer's workshop, and artistic beauty and truly the best comic I'm reading. APLUS!

SUPPPEEERRR PAAAPPPPER!!!

I managed to snag a copy of Super Paper Mario for the wii yesterday at a big box retailer who chose to break the street date. It's my first Wii purchase since launch and so far I'm enjoying it. The puzzles are pretty good but I wonder how long ill be interested in the the long text breaks. It does have some rpg elements which is nice and the whole ecth a sketch look is amazing. After playing Gears of War for the past couple weeks, all those bright crayola nintendo colors are a sight for my eyes.
I've decided to pass on seeing Grindhouse at the cinema. I'll rent them instead and not have to worry about drinking to much coke during the three hour marathon.
Aqua Teen is confirmed for our local small theatre on Friday. I will be there friday evening! Because, you know, Meatwad on the big screen.

Host Movie

Just got back from seeing The Host, the korean movie about an awesome toxic monster living in the sewers and the family that goes after it. This movie is wonderful and for a monster movie has plenty of nice family touches that are all very well played. We don't get enough Monster movies anymore and it's great when a genre film can also be infused with a sense of humor and understanding.
Too bad it wont play in the big chain theatres. It could of been a hit.

Comic Review.

Star Trek The Space Between # 3 Very good story that must have taken place in season 7. These comics are nice reminders of TNG and just how simple the show really was.

Also I highly reccomend you pick up the Cross Bronx trade in stores today. It may be Oeming's best work besides Powers.

slow burn to may explosion

April 6th Grindhouse. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez in a double feature. I'm really more excited about Rodriguez's Planet Terror half of this movie so I hope it plays second. Im not sure I can take Quentin's horror car film Death Proof after a chick with a gun for a leg.

Then Behold a week later the kings of absurd invade the big screen. I have a feeling this will be really terrible but I will gladly give the Aqua Teen Hunger Force as much money as they ask for.

April 20th, may have a gem in Simon Pegg's(Shaun of the Dead) Hot Fuzz. It has Bill Nighy and the british office's Martin Freeman in it. Should be good. One month till spidey and pirates 3. awesome.

lucky creature to release new album by cool spot,

o.k. are your really fooled? april fools!

Press Release 4/1/07 Lucky Creature to release new album by cool spot, the california raisins and sonic the hedgehog with guest vocals by sir peas alot. the new album tenatively titled, "i worked my butt off for this company and all i got was this lousy t-shirt" will hit stores next week and will contain the awesome renditions of old macdonald had a farm and "sucka, mario ain't blue foo'" Lucky creature showrunner Scott Smith adds, "the chance to work with these legends of product placement just blows our mind. It's the kinda thing were here for. To open the doors to those with less of a chance to succeed in the mainstream. I mean who better than cool Spot to get that notion across? We tried to get the Noid to join in on the project but there were some legal issues that we couldn't overcome." When asked about the future of such a line at Lucky Creature Smith could only respond, "Man I hope so. If ever we could work with these legends, it would be great. I mean I've got a list so long and songs by Grimace, or even a care bears tribute album. I would kill to work with the Chipmunks. Kill for it."
Look for the cd/ vinyl/ and 8track release in store next weeks. As always if your store doesn't carry Lucky Creature send them to the website or just order directly from us.
