Wed Comic Reviews, VERTIGO edition.
Loveless # 18. Yeah yeah yeah, more people killing each other. This has got to be the slowest comic ever. yet I can't turn away. B-
American Virgin the 1st Trade. This is an o.k. Vertigo book. It does a nice twist on the whole televangelist thing, and has some truly funny moments. But I can't see this being the next Fables or Transmetropolitan.
I heartily reccomend Brian K Vaughan's Pride of Bagdahd. It is a very neat look at the war we started and also surpising ends with a real sad outcome. If this were to ever get optioned for film I have no doubt the producers would change the ending, because if they didn't there would be some crying kids leaving the theatre. One of the few comics I've read recently that made me say wow. I should start reading more of Vaughan's stuff. I always liked Y the Last man, and he seems to have a very good sense of our world right now.
